Description
Delicious cream cheese and strawberry filled puff pastries that are perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup strawberries, diced
- 1 package (17 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in the diced strawberries gently.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into heart shapes using a cookie cutter or knife. You can make two hearts per danish for a top and bottom layer.
- Place one heart-shaped pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon a generous amount of the cream cheese and strawberry mixture onto the center of the heart. Top with another heart-shaped pastry.
- Gently press around the edges to seal the pastry together. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Use a pastry brush to coat the top of each danish with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the danishes are golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let the danishes cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Lightly dust the cooled danishes with powdered sugar for a beautiful finish before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened to mix easily.
- These danishes can be served warm or at room temperature.
