Description

Delicious cream cheese and strawberry filled puff pastries that are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberries, diced
  • 1 package (17 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in the diced strawberries gently.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into heart shapes using a cookie cutter or knife. You can make two hearts per danish for a top and bottom layer.
  4. Place one heart-shaped pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon a generous amount of the cream cheese and strawberry mixture onto the center of the heart. Top with another heart-shaped pastry.
  5. Gently press around the edges to seal the pastry together. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  6. Use a pastry brush to coat the top of each danish with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the danishes are golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the danishes cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes. Transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Lightly dust the cooled danishes with powdered sugar for a beautiful finish before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to mix easily.
  • These danishes can be served warm or at room temperature.
